Trekkie Trax Japan Vol. 2

by Various Artists

The second volume from Japan's leading electronic music crew Trekkie Trax is nothing short of amazing with 15 club-friendly tracks.

Exactly a year ago we released a 8-track compilation album/ep from Japan's bass music crew Trekkie Trax and this year the crew is back on Top Billin with twice the bigger compilation of Japanese footwork, trap and new bass music.

The American club music culture has always had a strong foothold in Japan. Starting from the later times of Larry Levan and David Mancuso but since the golden ages of 90's house, techno and trip-hop headed by Satoshi Tomie, Ken Ishi or DJ Krush, there has not been that many notable artists to leave their mark in European and US club scene.

Last few years, we've seen club music's big rise in Japan, footwork is hugely popular, and UK sounds are in favor again. Like The Guardian just wrote about London's PC Music taking japanese tween pop influence and creating the new wave in UK pop scene, we do it vice versa and bring you Tokyo's young guns taking the UK sound and giving it their own unique twist.

The 1st edition of Trekkie Trax compilations on Top Billin was an unexpected success and Trekkie Trax tunes have been getting support from luminaries like Salva, UZ, Djemba Djemba, Canblaster, Roska, Ryan Hemsworth, XXYYXX, MikeQ, Sinden, Douster, Munchi, Scratcha DVA, Nick Catchdubs, Kill Frenzy, Anamanaguchi and play on BBC Radio 1, Rinse FM, Block FM, MTV Japan and many many more.

We have previously mentioned that the fire rises in the east, and we stand by that notion with this new compilation too. Bass music is a worldwide movement and we're happy to be one of the labels spearheading that. Domo arigato friends, enjoy this compilation.
